James Richard Peets
James Richard "J.R." Peets, 69, of Osceola passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, at VA Central Iowa Health Care System in Des Moines.
Cremation was entrusted to Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
James Richard Peets, son of Thomas Delos Peets and Mary Ellen Peets, was born April 26, 1949, in Red Wood, Mississippi. J.R. graduated from Moline High School in Moline, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
On July 29, 1988, he married Elaine Russell in Beaufort, North Carolina, and they have lived in Osceola the past four years. J.R. worked building homes, did finish work, and was a pattern maker.
J.R. is survived by his wife Elaine Peets of Osceola; son T. J. Peets of Florida; stepdaughters, Lisa (Chris) Wooten of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Kim Gardache of Waverland, Mississippi; stepson Andy Manieri of Chattanooga, Tennessee; five grandchildren; sisters, Pamela Peets Cady of Bettendorf and Suellen Peets DeVito of Ocala, Florida; brother Thomas Lawson Peets of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and other relatives and many friends.
