Mardee Howell Trapkus
Mardee Ann Trapkus, 56, of Moline, passed away the evening of Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at First Covenant Church, Moline, with the service led by the Rev. James Lundell. Visitation is 9 a.m. to services. Memorials should be made in her honor for appreciation for care given by Dr. Markovic to Dr. Svetomir Markovic-research work, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, or, if you prefer, to First Covenant Church Memorial Trust Fund. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, is handling arrangements.
She was born Aug. 24, 1950. This strong-willed woman was raised by Donald and Beulah Howell. She graduated from Moline High School, attended Carthage College, became the first female stockbroker in the Quad-Cities area and bravely fought a long, hard battle with cancer for eight years.
Not only was she a daughter and a mother, but a sister, aunt, grandmother of two and a friend to many. She was a member of First Covenant Church, enjoyed her work at Robert W. Baird Investment Co. with a passion and spent every other moment focusing on her children.
She leaves behind her father, Donald Howell and his wife, Irene Howell; her three children (and spouses), son, Christopher (Janelle), an IT manager for Deere & Co., Brian (Jamie), a carpenter and contractor of his own businesses, and Melanie, a wildlife biologist, each of whom were extremely proud to have such a strong woman in their lives and will deeply miss her.
All lives touched by hers will miss her sweetness, strength and encouragement, but will always hold on to great memories of this extraordinary woman.
