Stanley King
Stanley L. King, 25, East Moline, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1976, during a fire at his house. His son, Eric David, 3, and the family dog also perished in the fire. Mr. King was found in the southwest bedroom, lying across his son, in an apparent attempt to shield him. His wife, Roxanne, was in the hospital, having given birth to a daughter the day before.
A joint memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 1976 at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Van Hoe Funeral home, East Moline.
Mr. King was born in Moline, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Max King. He was a 1968 graduate of Moline Senior High School. He married Roxanne Etzel Sept. 18, 1971, in Moline.
He was employed as an assembler at International Harvester, East Moline.
Surviving are the widow; a daughter, Jennifer; his father, Max King, Moline; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Whisler, and two brothers, Russell and David, both of Moline. Eric, who was born in Moline in 1972, is survived by his maternal grandfather, Jean Etzel, Silvis.
