Linda Swanson Lootens Linda C. Swanson Lootens, 74, of Ooltewah, TN, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Erlanger East Hospital, Chattanooga, TN after a long brave battle with chronic illnesses.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at St. Damien Center, Sacred Heart Church, Moline, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moline.

Linda was born June 13, 1950, in Moline, the daughter of Harold and Joyce (Raifsnider) Swanson. She graduated from Moline High School in 1968.

She married Richard “Rick” Lootens on August 18, 1973, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline, while Rick served in the U.S. Army in Wiesbaden, Germany. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2011.

Linda loved her family and especially enjoyed time with her granddaughters and great grandchildren. She moved from Moline to Ooltewah to be near her youngest granddaughters. Her favorite memories were family get togethers, particularly at Easter and on her birthday this past year. Linda cherished her older brother, Bob, and their childhood memories, including fishing with their dad. She deeply cared for her dogs and treasured their companionship.

Linda enjoyed time in her backyard gardening, feedings the birds, and lounging by the pool. She was very active in the Moline School system, including serving as PTA President. One of her proudest accomplishments was bringing the Survive Alive House Simulator to Moline. Linda served as Chair of the Nobel Lodge No. 288 of Vasa Order of America (a Swedish-American fraternal, cultural and educational organization) where she enjoyed celebrating her Swedish culture. She was instrumental in the 100th year celebration in 2014. Linda always looked forward to catching up with her classmates from MHS. She retired from First National Bank, Moline.

Survivors include her children, Carey (Scott) Bender, Houston, TX, Jennifer (Doug) Brown, Chattanooga, TN and Jonathan Lootens, Las Vegas, NV; granddaughters, Lily and Brooke Brown, Courtney (Robert) Shull and Jordyn (Michael) Billingsley; great-grandchildren, Jaxsyn, Raeleigh, Lucas, Michael; and hr brother, Bob Swanson, Terre Haute, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Vasa National Archives at Bishop Hill; Moline Public Schools Foundation; Troopers Treasures Animal Rescue, Chattanooga, TN; or Animal Aid Humane Society, Moline.

The family would like to thank the many people in the Chattanooga area that made it possible for her to live independently with her chronic illnesses.
