Monte Reeder

Monte Reeder Monte J. Reeder, 60, of Moline, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, in his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Local 25 Union Hall, 4600 46th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Holden Cancer Center, to whom the family is truly grateful for 3 1/2 years added to Monte's life. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.

Monte Jay Reeder was born Oct. 27, 1950, in Davenport, the son of Floyd and Bette Cory Reeder.He was a Marine Reservist for six years. He married Susan Harris Day on April 10, 1998, in Moline.

He was a proud plumber/pipefitter at Local 25 in Rock Island, for 30 years, retiring in 2008.He enjoyed many things in life, including riding his Harley, his 1955 Chevy Pickup, NASCAR, traveling, doing any kind of DIY work with family and friends, and helping others any way he could, and was a wonderful girls softball coach for many years.

Monte is survived by his wife, Sue; stepdaughters, Katrina (Doug) Day and Melissa Day; his best buddy, grandson Colten, and his greatly anticipated grandson, Reis Jay, who was born the day Monte passed and for whom Monte will be a guardian angel; his mother, Bette Reeder; and brother, Terry Reeder; daughters, Stacy (Jimmy) Watts and Lynsy Hesse; and many, many dear friends and family.
