Graveside services for Wesley Garmon, 65, of East Moline, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service should be at the funeral home by 11 a.m. Wesley died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at his home. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family.
Wes was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Moline, the son of Gillus and Essie Huff Garmon. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Frieda Utz on Oct. 1, 1971, in Germany. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, where he had been a machinist.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Frieda Garmon, East Moline; daughter, Claudia Brewer (Richard Lesley), Moline; granddaughter, Brittany Brewer, Moline; sister, Margie (Clifford) May, Colona, Coral (Steve) Clark, Silvis, and Sheryl (Ken) Himebaugh, Moline; brother, LaVern (Laura) Garmon, Geneseo; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special buddy, Cisco, his dog. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Bettendorf and Iowa City VA Clinics and the Silvis Kidney Center for their special care. They also extend a special thank you to his many friends, including Morris, Don, Jan, Dee, Mark and Jerry.
